I am curious to know if that is a random orbital sander you are using?

The reason is that orbital sanders, although fine for paint leave swirls in 
clear or translucent finishes. This is why I don't generally use a power 
sander except for a belt. I don't even use one much for sanding drywall but 
that is more to do with the dust.

I do see palm sanders often used and wonder about their action. I know that 
you can get "back & forth" sanders but I never see them in the shops.
