Robert:

Sounds like yo;u got a real good deal. Mine's one of the "el cheapo" models,
and is noisier than I'd like.

Subject: RE: [BlindHandyMan] Air Compressors

Hi
I was the one that started this whole thread on air tools and air
compressers. The compresser I picked up used for 35 dollars is very old and
I don't know any thing about it save that so far it meets my needs very well
and I was told that it is a 100 PSI I was a bit concerned about the quality
and if it would last very long. I feel much better about my decition to buy
it after reading Ray's post.
It has an electric motor that looks fairly heavy duty. The unit is a belt
drive and it is oil filled. It is a very quiet unit to start with but for
the sake of space I put it in the back section of the garage which is walled
off from the front. This makes it even quieter. I just ran the cord and the
hose through a hole in the wall for easy access. It works out great.

A friend of mine has a much larger compresser and is a bit louder. Not
exessive but is loud enough that he wanted to quiet it down. What he did is
he built a closet in the corner of his garage and that workd great. If you
want to really go all out you could build a closet and make it sound proof
with some kind of sound proofing material.
