Hey Max,
Sounds great!
I have two routers a 2.5 hp variable speed that I only use in a table. I use
a lot of large bits so I have the speed set to the slowest. I found that in
the table I like the slower speeds for all other bits as well. It tends to
make the bits last longer and I burn less wood. I am almost always using red
or white oak.
The other router is a very small 1/4 hp 1/4" bit router. I have used this to
make dado cuts and roundover on pine. With this small router I make several
passes to make a dado cut.
I purchase all of my bits from MLCS http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/
If you have any questions the guys in the shop love to "talk shop" you can
call them and they will explain anything to you. 1-800-533-9298
I have received a lot of great advice from Jack, Jeff, and Charlie.
Jack has another blind woodworker who turns pens so they have worked with
more than one blind woodworker.
Just make sure that you use hearing protection as well with that tool.
If you do call MLCS tell them that I said hello and gave you there number.

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] A router for Christmas.

Hi all. Sue gave me a Ridgid router for Christmas. I used the article about
routers to pick it out but now I would like some hints, dos and don'ts of
using it. The radio desk has been started. I intend to use the router to
make the dados.

Regards.

Max. K 4 O D S.
