I have one from MLCS. I did have to have someone initially set it up for 3/4
stock. I intend to cut small pieces of wood for quick setting up of 1", 3/4"
and 1/2" stock.
The instructions for setting the stop collar were very simple. Place the bit
in the jig so that the tip of the bit is about 1/8" inch from the base of
the unit and that is where you place the stop collar.
I imagine that that technique would work with any brand jig.

Nope, I don't know of any that are blind friendly and ready to go.

The pocket hole jigs are very easy to use and you will get the hang of it
right away. The placement of the depth collar on the drill bit is critical
to the system working properly. This is what determines that the screw
comes out of the center of any particular thickness board. It is very easy
to set. Just scan and read the instructions, or have someone read them for
you and try it on a few practice pieces. You'll catch right on.

  Hi Mickey,

Yes, the jig came with a manual. I guess I was being a bit impatient and
wanted to see if there was scanned and cleaned up version or maybe a
  video that may already exist.

  Thanks,

  Keith

  Hi Keith.

Did you buy the Kreg brand tools? If so, there should be instructions on
how to set up and use the tools.

I don't know of any book or manual on how to use pocket holes. I will
attempt to send you a direct e-mail,.

  Mickey

  OK Mickey,

I went out and bought the Pocket Hole Jig System. It was $140 at Low's.

The kit looks great. Do you know where I could get a manual for using
  it?

I really am looking forward to making pocket holes.

  Thanks,

  Keith

I have been using 2 different models of the Kreg pocket hole tools for
years. They are quality tools and well worth the price. As long as you
have made good cuts on the boards, the pocket holes make very tight,
strong joints. These tools are easy to use with very little learning
  curve.

You must use the proper screws to make the system work correctly. All of
the screws for this purpose have a flat pan head toward the shank of the
screw and the top of the screw head is a low dome with a square drive.
There are fine thread self-tapping screws for hardwood and coarse thread
self-tapping screws for softwood. I think there are even special thread
screws for particle and fiber board, although, I have used the coarse
thread screws for this purpose with good results. They are available in
various lengths and with different coatings, depending whether for
  indoor or outdoor use.

In my shop, the Kreg pocket hole tools are a "must have" item.

  Good luck.

So I just read Ray's post on the Kreg R3 pocket hole joinery kit. I
  don't
know much, or anything, about pocket hole joinery. Has anyone used this
particular kit, or any others? Can anyone give me an idea on whether or
not this R3 kit seems like a worthwhile investment? Or is there another
pocket hole kit that you have used that is just the be all and end all
  of
  pocket joinery?

  thanks.
