My internet connection went down yesterday right after receiving the
original message. All the advice I have seen is sound. The only worry is
if water got into the transformer. If it was spilled on top the chances of
this are slight. In 1969 the radio astronomy observatory at Western was
flooded. Radio receivers, amplifiers, A motor driven timer, a tape
recorder, and even an oscilloscope were all under water for about 24 hours.
The equipment that survived was that which I was able to keep other people
from firing up to see if it worked. I let it dry out for a month and
cleaned out as much of the river mud as I could. The tape recorder went
back to the factory for replacement of the transport. The motor driven
timer worked with some cleaning and lubrication. A tube type audio
amplifier worked good as new after its switches and pots were cleaned.
The Oscilloscope never worked again. Remember this was total emersion where
as your amplifier only had a spilled drink. The main concern is likely the
switches and pots. If any of the drink got into them you will know it.
Then is when the contact cleaner will need to be used. What kind of a
drink did your X friend spill?

  Regards.
