Hi Lenny,
I just had a look at the Lee Valley site, they sell several grades of drawer slides up to 28 inches long including one full extension slide rated at 250 lb. for $40.00 a set U.S. If I understand the description correctly this rating is for 18 inch sets, nevertheless this is substantial. You might like a fairly heavy duty though for a drawer that size extending that far. As for construction there are many ways very suitable for that type of application. If you are using slides then you want the face of the drawer to extend beyond the drawer sides to cover the slides and depending on how you intend to mount the slides you may be installing walls inside the frame so might want the drawer faces to extend to cover those as well. Because your drawers are as large as they are probably the simplest and a tidy answer would be to make a box to fit the space between the slides then mace it with a drawer front cut separately and added and adjusted for a perfect fit. You can clamp or tape it then run screws into it from the inside front of the box. This guarantees a perfect fit every time and if it isn't then you make it perfect by cutting one to allow for any errors. You probably do want a half inch bottom but might even want thicker drawer walls. There are several appropriate joint types to be considered but I would consider a standard open dado to slip the rear wall between the walls and a similar modified variety by cutting a tongue on the inside edge of the front by cutting a rabbet on the front and a narrower dado near the front edge of the side wall to form a sort of tongue into the dado. When glued up with a couple of reinforcing brads it should hold for ever and the false front will cover the joint. You could use a similar joint to hold the drawer bottom in. This would let you preserve a little more of the bottom of the drawer walls at the bottom to support the drawer bottom. Hope this gives you a few ideas.
