That is exactly what people do much of the time only the outlet hose is bigger, I think it is inch and a quarter. You would usually take it some distance down hill from your home. It is probably forbidden to drop the end of the hose into a storm sewer but you could probably end it in a gutter.
If your sewer lines are adequate ... but that too is most likely not legal and in a real storm situation might even back up.
