Hey Victor,

Is one grain of salt all we are allowed to have? Suppose we like pepper
instead? How many grains
of pepper could we take for this bit of advice? Grin!

Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] tough flooring

Hi Scott,

Another thing you might want to think about is the fact that come rain or
winter weather, that floor is going to get pretty slippery, so I think
you're going to have to put in some kind of foot/shoe/paw clean-up surface
in that area after you've installed the smooth flooring. Maybe in the form
of a floor mat...In other words, I don't think you can get away from having
carpet, albeit in a smaller area than you had it before, but some form
nonetheless.

Another thing you might want to consider is the safety of your pet.

A lot of times, especially, if you let the dog out to go relieve itself
through that door, the dog will tend to pull you down the corridor, Even
when it feels that it really, really has to go, so not only will you risk
scratching up the floor, but you'll risk the dog, and possibly you, slipping
on that flooring.

In the last couple of months, Boop wrote in that she installed cork
flooring.

I think this might be the way to go for you. Not only would it blend in
with the rest of the flooring in the other rooms, depending on if various
colours are available in the cork flooring, but the surface would be soft
enough that you could get some traction, whether wet or dry, including the
dog's paws, as well.

In terms of the transition, If you get a good enough threshold, that is,
something between the hallway flooring and the room transitions you are
going to transition, I don't think you should have a problem.

Please keep in mind that I have never seen cork flooring and am basing my
opinion on what a cork board looks like, , so I don't know exactly what the
floor would look like visually, I'm approaching this from a safety stand
point, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
