Bob, all I can go by is what this tech said, and he said the thermostat was not fully capable of running my unit efficiently. So he put a jumper in that would make it run at the higher speed. If you went to smartwaysolutions.com you'll see there is 2 different talking thermostats offered, one for 1 stage units, and another for 2 stage units.
