  I agree that the saw stop sounds like an expensive safety feature that 
  should not be necessary. However, I'll be the first to admit that I am 
  not perfect and have, possibly once or twice in my life, made a mistake. 
  Now I know that most of my friends on this list won't believe that, but it 
  is true. Accidents do occasionally happen.

  And, it sounds like this doesn't destroy the equipment but does a number 
  on the blade, at least.
