Jennifer, prior to computers some folks sat around the wood stove and
cleaned and oiled their house gujn. a term from days gone by , however
a hose gun could be a single shot rifle or something more along your
line of thinking as a shot gun or" scatter gun". I've suggested to
police cars that have responded here in days gone by that even though
I do not wear a pair of six guns it is my right , according to
Charleston Heston to protect my Home. the next question , regarding the
semi auto would be when asked why do you want an auto or semi auto
weapon. well I'd say that as a blind handyman my first shot fired might
not hit the target so if one had, yes even a shotgun then it is a
better bet that someone or something will fall. Not that I am feeling
brutal or acting out of my cottin pickin mind, no not at all. I have
even suggested that someone purchase and leave for me a well stocked
Paint gun. so at least I could leave my mark. that idea came about one
night when someone drove back and forth on this street on a warm
summer night with a real bad exhaust pipe/ muffler. I had called our
locall" Car 54" and they asked me to describe the car in question. so
my response was" get me a gun . even a paint gun " then I could label
that car/ truck. Ray's posting of knowledge on a revolver opened my
thinking in different areas.. No, I'd rather not do any damage to my
pool but If I always aimed above 52 inches . again I'd have to hit
something. oops, well not to high because behind me is one of those
cannister transformers on the power pole. I'd also like to own , for
whatever purpose a Chipmonk" rifle". this single shot 22 rifle is
very short and was originally designed to be used by trappers to kill
off whatever might be caught in their t traps but not yet dead.
Jennifer, I am not saying all folks, blind or not should have a house
gun but someplaces it is a good idea. case in point. a friend of mine
spent many nights on a back road in a real nice home and her hubby was
an over the road trucker. she was , so I am told very accurate with a
22 semi auto rifle. shooting from the shoulder or hip. nobody would
bother that house. since then she has got two fantastic geese whereas
they make great " watchdogs".. As a blind handyperson, I would like to
learn more about breaking a weapon down , cleaning and to reassemble
same said.Lee
