Hi all,

My tape measure has done this occasionally since the day I got it. The only
thing I do to clear the error is pull the tape out about 18 inches and press
the release button. After the tape retracts into the housing the error
always goes away. Do not hold the tape while it retracts. Just let the
unit retract the tape itself.

Take care,
Ed

Mine does this too from time to time. I have found that (at least with mine)
that removing the battery and then reconnecting it will solve the problem
for a short period of time, but replacing the battery with a new one takes
care of the problem. Seems my unit doesn't like anything much more than a
fully charged battery.
