Hi Max i've a deal of experience with scrapers from my days in a violin shop. the ones we used there had a curved edge with sharper curves at the ends so that individual strokes made near each other tended to meld together.
However the straight edged scrapers, as used to flatten and smoothe cabinet tops, do have sharp ends. But you'reremoving such a tiny amount of wood each stroke and you overlap them so much that it comes out great. You're actually cutting wood witha scraper, not just abrading it off as with sand paper, so the surface is flatter, smoother and has open pours, better for absorbing finish consistantly. If I ever want to do any really fine finishing, I'll surely get my hands on a cabinet scraper Tom Net-Tamer V 1.13 Beta - Registered
