I might as well post this under this subject line. For those new to the list I bought a shell building to be used as a shop. It gets up to about 110 degrees in there in the day time so I need to insulate and air condition it. There aren't any joist to hang a ceiling on. The stringers go up from the top plate in the wall frame. About half way up there is a horizontal member that is fastened to the stringer on each end by gusset plates. I bought enough 2 by 4s to do the job and today I installed them. Actually, yesterday I cut a little off each one, and mitered the ends, so I could get them into place. All I had to do was lift each one into place where it rested on the top plates at each end. Then I fastened it to the stringer with wood screws. I may never use nails again. I used star drive screws. When you are buying wood screws get star or square drive. Don't mess with Philips or straight slot.
P S. As I reread this I see a double meaning in star drive. Those screws will easily make warp 11. Grin. Regards. Max. K 4 O D S.
