Yes. Scotch makes a white fiberglass tape that is a fabric and it it used for 
high heat applications.  Also the old friction tape was a black cloth tape that 
was used over rubber tape back in the R E A days of wiring.  I don't know if it 
is still available, but it was about 10 years ago.
