Tim
I forgot to mention the ToneTest
a very fancy high quality audible continuity tester/relative voltmeter.

This has two functions selected with momentary push buttons: continuity
where the pitch of the tone varries with resistance between the test leads
from high pitch at 0 ohms, to a relatively low buzz at maybe a few hundred K
ohms.

Voltage with two ranges I think 0-12 and 0-40 volts.

Although you don't get exact measurements, you get relative
voltage indications and very fast response so you can hear voltage drops
when applying a load to a circuit to help
find shorts etc.
The tonetest is very well made with test leads of good quality flexible
cable ending in nice big solid brass aligator clips.

It's about $90.00 but if you want a sturdy electrical trouble shooter for a
lot of hard work, it can't be beat.

get it from Dave Reynolds at

There is also the only inexpensive talking volt/multi meter I know of
from marlin P. Jones Associates:
http://www.mpja.com
look in test equipment,digitla multi-meters
and the multimeter with speech is about top.
It's $45.00 with shipping
and is adequate for casual use, but missing high current ranges which
a mechanic might well need.

We'll think of more stuff.
