Would that have been the 1.9 4 cilender?
I did a timing belt and some other stuff on one of them. That was real fun
since I had never done one of them and did not have a book or even some one
to tel me how to do it. I did get it It took a while but I did get it
running.

Imagine my surprise to raise the hood on an old girl friend's Plymouth
Horizon and find a Damn VW Rabbit motor.

That was the only Chrysler built 4 cylinder they built too. I always got a
kick out of the commercials they ran after their bout with bankruptcy.
"Dodge, the best built American car you can buy." Most of their engines
were made by Mitsubishi... What a Mickey Mouse set up to change the timing
belt that wore out around 70,000 miles. But it paid the bills for a long
time so complaining was just a part of the job...

I almost hate to admit how much I know about that little piece of crap
known
as the Dodge spirit and the acclaim but I had bumped my head many years
ago
and I ended up owning one of each. Well now my head is better and I stay
away from them. Well for any one that likes them cars I will not
criticize.
You can drive what you like and can afford and what works for you. Any way
to make a short story long. The Spirit as far as I know only came with the
2.5 4 cilender, at least that was the most commen. Not a durable engine.
You
are lucky to get 200k but they would get you in and out of traffic ok.

Robert, you mentioned the Dodge Spirit. our local dodge dealership has
one of those for a loaner car when a car is in for repairs or service
for any period of time. I would never buy one because of their size as I
am a taller person but it is a snappy little engine. not sure what it
is. it is better known at that dealership as a" beater car" does the
job but again I would not want to own one. Lee
