I just had a look at the Hadley School for the Blind, oddly they don't seem to
have any of that sort of course.

I did a couple of small projects many decades ago, kits with all the parts
already cut you just knotted them together. There are a variety of stitches, I
did know how to do the "English Knot" but couldn't tell you how now. Made a
couple of key cases and a wallet or two is all.

Well, I have in the past, and sometimes still do make collars, leads, and
sometimes guiding harnesses. As far as tools go, I've found the easiest way
to get good straight cuts is to use a wide wood chisel and a square. I have
some basic tools, punches, both rotary and regular, a couple trimming tools
for rounding ends etc., and of course tools for affixing tap rivets and
snaps. I don't do anything fancy, and I am for sure self-taught. Certainly
Tandy leather has all the basic tools, and there are leather-working books
out there, though whether you'd be able to use them would probably depend on
  whether you could see diagrams.
As far as classes go, you might check with community universities or perhaps
talk to some crafters, or even a good shoe repair guy in your area to get
  started.
  Good luck.

what I need to know is what kind of tools you need to get started doing
projects such as making belts, dog collars, dog leash and etc.? I also would
like to know if their was a school in Florida that I might go to learn the
trade? Or some one good enough to do teaching podcast on the trade? Any help
anyone on the list would have would be appreciated.

  thanks, Little Freak([EMAIL PROTECTED])
