Brice, They have some brackets for 4x4 you can pound into the ground and fasten the post to. It does make life a lot easier, but does cost a few bucks. This is what I used to install my mailbox post the last time the snow plow knocked the old one down. It just took a few minutes to drive the braket in the ground and tighten the bolt to hold the post.
