Lee, Can't remember for sure how long the tongue is, but know they work well. I also used one of the brackets for putting up a 4x4x8 foot for a bird house about 4 years ago and it is still standing tall and straight. Think I had to loosen the bolt on the bracket once to re-level the bird house. As for the bracket, it is made of a heavy flat. I got mine at Home Depot. One of the things I like about this set up for the mailbox, when the plow hits it, all I have to do is straighten the mailbox post back up. ----- Original Message ----- From: Lee A. R J, that braket you drove in for your mailbox post. is that a pretty good heavy weight metal? and how deep does it go into the ground. Our town half assed reset all the mailbox's after digging out the ditches and what bit of work it will be once the snow and ice is gone.
