The pocket hole jig is just a jig for helping to properly index your drill to drill pocket holes. A pocket hole is a joint use to connect two boards together, the hole goes through one board at an angle and into the other board.
for example: on my kitchen cabinets there is a pocket joint connecting the vertical rails to the horizontal rails of the face frame. The hole goes through the face of the vertical rail, passes out through the end grain of the vertical rail and into the edge of the horizontal rail. It appears that the jig always indexes the angle to be 15 degrees and you just alter the location where you drill the hole and use specific length screws. There appears to be lots of charts and tables. Personally, I think it would be easier to just do the trig myself and be able to set the jig to whatever angle I want, but this works as well. The system I got comes with a spiffy clamp that looks like a rather large vice grip with deep jaws and clamp pads on the ends of the jaws. Will have to start playing with the system now. I hope to use it to connect the bottom rails of my deck railing to the railing posts. -- Blue skies. Dan Rossi Carnegie Mellon University. E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: (412) 268-9081
