I have the 4 foot version and it's good. They have gone up since I bought mine but looking back in the checkbook I gave 151.96 with the shipping. It is very accurate.
If you want to Google them don't use audible level. You'll get returns on research, speaker stuff and everything else you aren't looking for. Try audible carpenters level and you'll find them. As far as I know there are 2 different companies selling them. I took the Stabila but there is also a company called Macklenburg Dunkin I think it was. That one may be a little less expensive. It won't help you using it alone, but the Stabila has a locking feature so you can check the incline and hit the lock button. Then you can pick it up and turn it at all angles to read it. It checks for degrees, inches and a few other things but those are LED readouts. The audible signal works when you get within 13 degrees of level or plumb. It starts out beeping slowly and speeds up as you get close to the mark. If you pass it the tone changes. Of course once you hit level it is steady. Now if you don't need one that often, what I used to do was use the short version available through MaxiAids. I zip tied it to my regular 4 foot level. This was pretty accurate as well. The zip ties went through the openings in the 10 inch level and through the openings in the big level as well so I didn't have to deal with the ties throwing everything off. I haven't checked but I had heard that Sears had a couple audible levels as well. But I'm just repeating now I haven't checked myself. If you have questions on the Stabila I can help you with those. ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry Stansifer To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, February 29, 2008 9:07 AM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Stabila Levels Hi Folks, I just spent about an hour on Amazon.com trying to determine which of the Stabila levels were audible. The only thing I could come up with was the ones that said "electronic in the description and they were a hell of a lot more money than the other ones. Any other ideas or is this as good as it gets.
