victor, Sounds similar to what I grew up with except we didn't have the electrical built-in. And, there was no space aged gun or anything, just a chrome pipe sticking out of the end of the hose. You could connect extention pipes onto that. also, ours didn't have an on/off switch, it just used a contact switch in the receptacle so as soon as you plugged in the hose, it started sucking.
As kids, it was pretty popular to open the other receptacles while mom was vacuuming and put your hand over the entrance to feel the suction, or toss pieces of paper into it and watch them disappear. Of course, it would reduce the suction at the working end and mom would yell and scream, or sneak up behind us and give us a wap with the dreaded wooden spoon of disapline. -- Blue skies.
