Joe, If I might add in some comments for replacing glass in older
windows. first of all safety is needed as you remove that old glass.
feel around the edge of the glass where therer might be some lleftover
putty it will probably chip out easy with a small screwdriver. there may
also be some three pointed wedges which are holding that glass in .
just rock them a bit and they will come out. once that glass is all out.
take a clean maybe old paint brush and clean that little ledge where
the glass was all the way around. Now here is where the leftovers come
in. if you are lucky enough to have some leftover oil based paint. take
any small brush and paint that whole layer or opening t where the
glass and the putty was. the reason is because those ond windows will
be very dry and if you just pop the glass in and secure it with those
three pointed wedges and putty the moist putty which is new will have
the moisture sucked out of it and you will be doing a putty job again
next year. the oil based paint old or new if you have to get some
from a neighbor will help seal up those dry pores. Now if you are
repainting the windows frames later then maybe a paint someone can
suggest which would be close to or the same color as you will be
painting with . good luck. Lee
