I have a Sears softener and found it uses very little salt. The thing is not to fill the salt up to the salt line or full. My wife just fills our up to the number 2. Or about 1/3 of it capacity. HI, I have a sears water softener and it seem to be working all right but the salt in it is all hard like a big peace of cement. Also it has not needed any salt for over 6 months now so I really wonder if it is really working right. Just to let you know I have a well here do you guys think I should chop up all the salt and get it out of the softener and put new salt in it???
