Folks, my wife and I have been shopping for a shade or blind that would help reduce the amount of sun coming into the front room of our house. The windows are fairly efficient as they do have the E-layer on the glass and the argon gas etc. However, being windows, a lot of sun still comes into the room and even if the curtains are closed, a bit of heat gets in and runs the thermostat up some. So, we went looking about at Home Depot for a few items and found shades, but it seems from talking to one of the employees, the Cellular blinds might be a better option although a bit more in price. Seems the size we need is about $26 or so which is not to bad as compared to what my folks saw at J.C. Pennies at $60 for a similar size. Wow, what a difference and knowing that, I realize the quality that Home Depot sells as compared to what a J.C Pennies may sell are probably different, do these types of blinds actually help reduce energy costs at all? I've heard they do and I know of one couple who have stated that they do, but they also had their blinds custom made with some pretty heavy material so that might be the difference and I may not realize quite the same savings, but any savings will be better than no savings at all. Any thoughts as always are appreciated.
