Hi Bob, While I agree that the thin piece of metal wouldn't stand up to a circular saw blade, one could use the thin piece of metal as a straight line to run the circular saw fence along.
One would simply need to off set the t-square to accommodate for the couple of inches required for the width of the saw fence, and there you have it.
