Hello all from Hungary. I have been doing all sorts of work
here. The first day I was on spouting cleaning which turned into
roof repairs where limbs from trees broke tiles and punched holes
thru. Day two was more of the same plus I was asked if I could
repair a cabinet in the main office.
Day three it rained so there was not much to do at all. So I
took the only job of tearing a concrete bathroom apart. So I stripped
the inside of the bath of everything with a hammer drill. The sun
came out so I was put in charge of stripping wallpaper and other stuff
in the same apartment. I was also put in charge of a crew to trim and
cut down dead trees on the campus. Thursday they took me to the zoo
in Budapest, took a tour and ate another of many meals designed to
stear me clear of any weight control. Friday I was given free
control of jobs and crews to do work, more trees to trim and hauling
furniture back and forth for opening day, which is today,Sunday.
Yesterday I volunteered to start laundry for the group, worked on
a computer and missed the boat so to speak. There was a festival in
town to celebrate their history. Everyone else had gone so I figured
I would wonder into town and see if I could find it. I followed the
crowd backwards and made it there. I met everyone else from our group
there and was shown around. When I got to the stands this lady
presented me with a bracelet that was just Hungarian colors. Noone
else got anything, so I felt honored. Than I was checking out a map
for the re-enactments about the history of the festival when the mayor
of the town invited us to the head tent. So my lady friend, long
story, and I went and had yet another free meal way out of proportion.
Every time we wanted to leave they said nem, another dish of
something else is on the way. My weight control is out the window
till I get home.
Today is a quiet day and I promised the office ladies I would be
here to work on shelves tomorrow, promised Nancy to put up molding in
her living room, promised the carpenter to remove cabinets in a
kitchen and put ceiling molding up there, so my list should be full
for the whole week if I keep running into people. Maybe I should just
go to my room which is at the top of the grand staircase, lock the
door, and nap.
I do hope you all are having as much fun as I am having. I
should be leaving here late Saturday night, non-stop flight to New
York. It is a 8 and one half hour flight and a six hour time
difference, so I will land in New York 2 and a half hours after I
leave, EST.
