I should have followed through with an idea. About 15 years ago my daughter
purchased a car and the headliner material was falling down. I had an idea
of using upholstery pins to hold the liner up. I called one of the pin
manufactures telling them what I wanted to do and to locate a place where I
could purchase these pins. They kindly sent me some samples. We carefully
measured and made a nice pattern on the ceiling. All of her friends thought
it looked cool, diamonds or stars on the ceiling. I talked about marketing a
repair kit. I talked to the manufacturer about the possibility and did not
pursue the project.
Today we went to pick up another quart of the Dot 5.1 break fluid for my
daughter's car. While standing at the counter Karen picked up this package
called "Miracle Tac" a headliner repair kit. It was as I described to the
pin manufacturer. This item sold for $4.95. The pins would have cost me
about $1.00.

When I was a kid, I had a part time job at the pet shop. People kept asking
how they could stop their cats from scratching. In the basement was some old
extra carpet and some lumber. I made a post and wrapped it with carpet and
put catnip inside. Then fastened a screen door spring on the top and secured
a rubber mouse to the other end. The owner was elated and had me make a few
more at my regular wage of $1.15 an hour and he sold them for $14.95. A few
weeks later one of the suppliers came in and was looking at them. He asked
me from where they came. I told him that I made them in the basement. He
purchased one and about six months later they were in his catalog and I was
no longer allowed to make them.
So if you guys have any good ideas I would you suggest really checking out
the possibility of having them made. I still on occasion make a cat post for
a friend.
