Hi Guys and Gals, It is a '79 Jeep CJ7 hard top, 258cc I-6, manual 3 speed. As the subject says a Jeep project and what a project it will be. It has real bad body cancer as such as Jeep's have. Motor, transmission, drive train, axles, etch. are all in great shape though. I bought it last year from a lady and it was her father's Jeep. He had just rebuilt the 258cc I-6 engine when he died in '99 and the Jeep had set in a shed until I bought it. A gallon of gas and a new battery and she started right up. Of course anything and everything rubber is dry rotted. It will be a ground up, body off frame restoration.
Now if I was building it for me to drive I would put a fuel injected Ford 351 Winsor, T18 4 speed or T19 5 speed manual trans, Dana 205 transfer case and either Curry Dana 44 or Curry Ford 9 inch axles, 4-1/2 leaf over axle life and appropriate size tires. However, since my wife will be driving it it is mostly going back original. Although I will be putting a soft top on it , Jeep YJ springs and nice set of tires and wheels on it as fund allow. lol Ward [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
