As for a shop vac it does not have too much suction, only when you use it on automobile carpet. Then when I put it on the porch floor carpet you really could not slide the floor attachment. I am so really pleased with this machine. The only thing that I really don't like is that it is a fairly heavy unit. I still plan to modify a floor attachment so I can use it in the van. Getting out of the van I dropped the hose while it was running. I had no idea it was possible to have too much power in a shop vac, sounds strange to me. Especially if it is a Binford 6100.
