We had the same problem, and it was the capacitor, which cost $20 to replace. We were fortunate to have someone who charged a minimal labor charge as well. Good luck, Tom p.s. The outside unit will try to come on and then quits. We reset the circuit breaker and changed the fuses in case that did it, but is there something else I could check?
