That would probably explain why the compressor won't start.  Low freon will 
cause it to shut down.

  Ha! You have way to much faith in the not so ready guys at Ever-ready Air 
conditioning and plumbing repair. The guy just left about fifteen minutes ago. 
he tells me there is a leak in a coil and the coil will have to be replaced. 
The office will contact my home warranty office and get back to me about this. 
Apparently I should not even expect to hear back until sometime tomorrow.
