Wow, you really have had it pretty hard and I understand. As far as  
how long a couple of units should last, with regular use, about ten  
years. If it's not the greatest quality, you might get a few years  
less, but average is at least ten to twelve years.
I wish you the best of luck, you really need some good things  
happening for you.
