I was talking to a retired engineer who was a heating specialist. I asked him about my idea to help my neighbor who just added a wood pellet burner on the first floor. I mentioned my concern about the upstairs back room radiators freezing. He told me that it is a very common practice for freeze control to hook up multiple thermostats in parallel. That way the back room could be set to 45 or 50 degrees preventing a freeze problem. This will be the easiest way for him especially since next week he can have my old thermostat.
