HI Tom,
I finally got in touch with the Honeywell thermostat support group. What a
waste of time. After about 20 minutes trying to get him to understand what
and why I wanted the two controls he placed me on hold for another 10
minutes. He finally told me to contact a heating contractor because the two
thermostats might destroy the transformer on the furnace.

I can forsee problems with hooking modern electronic thermostats
in parallel.
Back when they were simple mechanical contactors, it'd work fine
but some of these electronic ones may not use actual contacts to
close the circuit but electronic switches. It's hard to be sure
what strange effects might occurr when paralleling different
types of solid state switches. A call to the makers
of electronic ones, if such can be found, might tell you
whether it would work or be safe for the device.

Probably if only one of the paralleled units were electronic it'd be O.k.
but if more than one were solid state, I'd be a bit cautious.
