I used a similar product. Don't remember the name of it and don't 
have any in the house at the moment. It is a spray and you can do it 
yourself. When spills occur, the liquid just beads up and you dab it off.
Had mine on the furniture for 14 years and still works. I think we 
paid about $3 for it back then.
