I'm not trying to argue, in fact, I think returning the compass was the
right thing for you to do.

However, I received mine and I'm quite happy with its' performance. I never
really tested whether it pointed exactly to magnetic north, but I liked the
fact that it is consistent. It is also very sensitive to interference from
metal.

I got inept inconsistent readings if there is a pair of metal tweezers in my
shirt pocket. I'm wondering if there is metal near or below the table on
which you tested it.

Also, the readings are not consistent in certain parts of my house. I
attribute that to metal in the walls or some other interference.

Again, I still agree with your decision to return it, even though mine works
very well outside and away from metal.
