Hi Keith, Unfortunately, this player does not have a bookmark feature, as those types of features are usually reserved for players with screens, making them very hard to navigate for us blind folks.
Having said that, being able to start a file from where you left off before you shut it down, is a very good push in the right direction. As for listening to them without ear buds, you can pretty much plug any set of speakers that use a 3.5 mm jack and it will play through those speakers. Be careful, as speakers that are powered by the jack itself will deplete the battery faster than the ear buds, and self powered speakers, so your best bet is to get a set of speakers that are self powered. Ideally, the best thing to get is a docking station that will, not only play the files on your player, but also charge it at the same time. These can be gotten from any electronics shop, or Walgreens. Up here we have a drug store chain called Shoppers Drug Mart, and they are selling a CD player that plays traditional CD's and MP3 CD's, and a radio. The nifty thing about this boom box is that it has a USB port that will allow you to plug in your player, or any player with a USB input/output, and play the files on the player, giving you the ability to navigate the files from the boom box. The port will also charge up your player, if it uses a USB port to charge up, as the Muvo does so. I bought this unit for a friend and they are quite happy with it, as it allows them to charge up the player while listening to the tracks on it, yet it stays charged up for when they have to go out. Anyway, electronic shops like Best Buy, The Source by Circuit City, or Radio Shack sell these types of units, although not necessarily with the CD player, but you can pick up a nice docking station for as little as 50 bucks, and as much as 200, depending on what you're looking for and can afford to spend. Hope this helps. Victor Co-moderator Blind Movie Buffs List Guidedogs List
