Lee, All that snow did find its way into the basement in liquid form. Had to get the generator going because of high winds and a power outage. Now will have to recharge the battery on the auxiliary pump. Also got a new switch for a pump I had for a back up and did put in a alarm for the sump pump to let me know if the pump goes haywire again. The alarm was pricy, and operates on AC and DC backup. Hevy duty one made by wagners I think is the name all solid steel even the inner parts. that was near $425. my back up installed pump is a 1/3rd horse fro sears.$179. same as home depot . life time guarntee. tape your reciepts inside a sandwich bag and the to the pipe that takes out your water. actually a friend blew out his sears pump because he was pumping out a neighbos cellar and with no water the pump was going bad. tok it to sears. they ran his license and here you go sir. oh that sears is a 1/3rd Horse with a 1 1/4 solid pvc pumping capacityl. the big pump is a 1/2 horse which is connected to a 1 1/2 inch pvc discharge pipe. the third pump we have in a 3 by 3 foot pit is a I think 1/4 horse battery back up pump which I am trying to get a new fuse for. the battery seems to be about the size of a motorcycle battery. that pump only comes on with a beep beep beep when all powr is off and I have not yet turned on the generator. all that snow you got rJ will , as you will know turn into water which will find its way to your cellar/ basement. good luck.Lee On Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 09:29:46PM -0500, RJ wrote: > Had the great displeasure of my sump pump going south on me.
