Tom, you've seen outlet dividers that you plug into a power outlet on the
wall and it provides you with two or three outlets? This device is just like
that except it provides power only while it is activated while the phone is
ringing. It has a telephone cord attached to it. You plug it into your phone
system just as you would a regular telephone. Now plug your audio device into
it. Maybe a radio and put the radio on the roof with a long extension cord.
I used to have a fire bell that I got from Radio Shack also. This bell
was just like the ones you used to find on the wall in schools. It was
attached to a power supply that I plugged into the telephone activated power
outlet. When my phone rang the fire bell rang. At the time I was selling
audio equipment in a pretty noisy environment and I wanted to be able to hear
the phone. This would make a great audio beacon if you lived in the country on
a lot of acreage with no roads or trails to follow.
I've seen an audio beacon designed for blind people but it was pretty
expensive and had very limited range, like 100 feet. I would like to have a
system where I have a controller device to carry and several audio devices
hidden in key spots all over town. When I thought I'm was in the neighborhood
of one of the devices I could use my controller to verify my position. These
would have a short range, like 100 or 150 feet.

               Jerry
