Dear Dale:
When the oiler quits working because of a malfunction or because it is out
of bar oil, the chain will become noisier than usual, and you will notice the
bar getting much hotter than usual. With a little experience, you will be able
to tell fairly quickly when you have a malfunction. The chain does not melt
down when this happens, but the saw will start working harder and heating up.

                Yours Truly,

                Clifford Wilson
