I think mine is the Cobalt version and it works well on things like clothing. It gets into trouble when light can get in around the sensing area at the tip.
It has a calibration button that is to be run with the top on and it always sees white. And pressing it against clothing would block out any light as well. I like to run mine with the top off for wires and so on and it isn't so hot that way. I'm going to make a small box that will fit over the end and paint the inside white. Then I can put the wire in the box and that will help keep some of the light out. If that works I'll feel like I've solved a big problem. If you have a camera phone, there is also software out that will identify color using the camera. Of course you need a phone that can talk to make this work. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jim King To: Blind Handymen's Forum Sent: Friday, July 10, 2009 10:37 AM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] What is the best color identifier? Which color identifier is the most accurate? I don't know the make of the one I have but purple is often gray and green is also gray. This is the case even with a new set of batteries. Maybe I have a color blind color identifier. Jim King [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
