I saw that program in there as well, just didn't fire it up. I have Mobile Speaks in mine so I should be fine.
I'll drop you a note if I have any other questions. ----- Original Message ----- From: William Stephan To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 5:46 PM Subject: RE: RE: [BlindHandyMan] What is the best color identifier? In my case Bob, no, I had to buy it from a dealer. However, you never know what apps dealers load on these things anymore. If you try to run what I have, which is called MCR (Mobile color recognizer), with Talks running as your screen-reader, it won't work. However, it'll work with Mobile Speaks as the screen-reader, the documentation says you can run it if you disable Mobile Speaks if that's your screen-reader. Apparently this is a workaround when you have little memory which isn't the case with theN82. One of the really nice features is that you can adjust the zoom level of the camera, and if you play with it enough, you can often get a pretty good idea of how stuff is laid out color-wise. I've had an N82 for over a year, so if you get stuck on something let me know off-list and maybe I can help. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bob Kennedy Sent: Saturday, July 11, 2009 17:55 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: RE: [BlindHandyMan] What is the best color identifier? Bill, did that software come with your phone? I just got the N82 and there is a program in it but I haven't played with it much yet. ----- Original Message ----- From: wstep...@everestkc. <mailto:wstephan%40everestkc.net> net To: blindhandyman@ <mailto:blindhandyman%40yahoogroups.com> yahoogroups.com Sent: Friday, July 10, 2009 5:06 PM Subject: Re: RE: [BlindHandyMan] What is the best color identifier? Tom: A color identifier is a device which examines an object and speaks its color. There are several different types and models out there. My wife has one from APH which works pretty well, and I have one made my Codefactory on my Nokia N82 cell phone. You have to calibrate mine for the lighting conditions, but once you do that, it works pretty well. It will, when set to do so, give you the confidence level as well, multiple colors and the location of the different colors it sees. The N82's camera though doesn't allow the software to distinguish between light and darker shades, but other than that, it's a handy thing to have.
