The first thing that comes to mind is taking the hard drive out. If it crashed, usually that means the hard drive was wrecked.
You have said the hard drive still works, so if you're going to get rid of the rest of it, I'd take the hard drive out and then get an external case for the drive. That effectively converts the internal to an external hard drive. That way your other computer will see it as an extra drive and you'll still be able to access anything that is on it. The cases run anywhere from the 302 to about $80 or so. If you have anything of value, this will be the easiest way to keep it.
