Clifford's got a good idea Dan, and, you might also think about using a ladder hoist, or a "bail flipper", that roofer's often use.

While they will operate on fairly steep slopes, my son had an employee to flip one, when he had the load too high and on a steep slope. He had to go out and rent a large skid steer to rescue the Dingo. Fortunately, his employee managed to escape without injury. Dan, if you have some farmer friends, you might ask to borrow their hey machine that lifts the hey from a wagon to the barn loft. Those were used extensively when square bails were used everywhere. It is essentially a conveyer with raised short walls to hold the hey in place on the bed as it travels up and away. I believe the popular name for them was hey elevators.
