I wonder if there is any tool in the shop that is equivalent to a fingernail. A fingernail can be used to scrape off substances such as the tape residue we have been discussing but usually won't mar the surface. If you try to use any sort of tool from the shop it will leave marks. The disadvantage of the fingernail is it's so small and it's use takes a long time.
