I think the extensions have a minimum. But places like Woodcraft and Rockler sell sets of extra long brad point bits. I have a set with one regular length and the long one as well. The long bits are about 12 inches long. It goes to half inch but I don't know if there is a 7 16ths or not. It may skip from 3/8 to a half.
Do a search for long brad point bits and you'll find some packs. ----- Original Message ----- From: Matt To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, September 19, 2009 7:38 PM Subject: Re: [BlindHandyMan] How do you drill an extra long hole? It calls for 4 holes at varying lengths, the size of bit it calls for is 7 sixteenths. Can you get an extention for that? It depends on the size of the hole. You could use a extension. ----- Original Message ----- From: Matt To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, September 19, 2009 19:15 Subject: [BlindHandyMan] How do you drill an extra long hole? K, I am toying with this idea of making a quad train whistle. It requires that you drill 4 holes at different lengths. The deepest hole is to be 7 and 1 fourth inches I think. I checked the paddle bits I have and at the most, I think they are capable of drilling 4 and a half. Is the trick to cut the wood, and drill coinciding holes in 2 or 3 different pieces, then glue them all back together, forming longer holes, or are there longer bits to be, had? I have a 12 inch drill press.
