Dear Jim:
I have a jet pump in my basement which is used to boost the pressure, since
my source arrives at my home in the twenty to forty psi range, and we prefer to
shower etc at higher pressures. I am guessing that the relay you are discussing
is a pressure switch with a low pressure cut-off feature. That is the way my
pressure switch works. Unfortunately, I have been having some of the same
difficulties, and I am looking to install a new switch in the near future. For
now, I use the lever on the side of the switch to disable the pump when I am
away from the home or at night when we are sleeping.
You might try adjusting up and down on the two spring loaded adjustments,
and if it is like my pump, the short spring controls the spread between high
and low pressures, while the tall spring adjusts both up and down.
As far as a good spray is concerned, I would use a good silicone spray to
lubricate the parts. If the points are sticking, you will need to smooth them
and possibly adjust them.
Yours Truly,
Clifford Wilson
