Well, I have always proclaimed that there are no accidents just careless
mistakes and today I had two blunders. I am constructing a printer stand for
a friend and it is nearly completed. I have it sitting on a small work table
about four feet to the right of my router table. I only had some decorative
trim to make that will go around the top right under the table top.
When I set up my router table I did not have the fence totally tightened and
did not realize that with each pass it was moving back a little. When
cutting the profile in the final piece the router bit grabbed the wood and
shot it out of my hand and into the side of the stand. I won't repeat the
first three words that I uttered.
When Karen heard the bang and me talking to my self she came running down to
make sure that I was ok. Only my pride and the stand were hurt. I was lucky
that the stand was on a little angle and only a thin line from the corner of
the board caused the damage. It was also in the same direction of the wood
grain so a little wood filler made it disappear.
Fortunately no physical damage to me or irreparable damage to the stand.
However, there were a few lessons learned.
